Join Our Team!

Come and join us in building schools in Kenya! Each year World of Difference coordinates an expedition to Kenya where volunteers will work side by side with local community members in the slums to build schools, paint, teach, and specialize in community development. Expeditions generally last 2 and a half weeks and cost approximately $3,750 (which includes airfare, in-country accommodations, food, bottled water, transportation, visas, service work on the Maasai Mara, volunteering on the Eastern Coast of Kenya, and, of course, the main project in the slums outside of Nairobi). The price of the expedition is subject to change, depending on airfare. All donations for the expedition are made to World of Difference and are tax deductible.

Cost: The cost of the expedition is $3,750 (subject to change depending on airfare), of which a $300 non-refundable deposit is due at the time of application. This deposit will secure your spot on the expedition. Remember, all payments are tax deductible.

This year our projects will consist of painting, plastering, building desks and adding classrooms to some of our existing schools in the slums of Kenya. Come with us for a life-changing experience! We will be working hand in hand with locals from the community in the building of the school as well as painting, teaching, and having loads of fun. We will also be working with a number of other orphanages and small projects during the 2+ weeks we are in Kenya.

New Partnership To Build Schools Announced

We are proud to announce a new partnership with the Warm Hearts Foundation for classroom construction at the Mchoka School. From June 30th through July 6th, 2013 a team of volunteers from the U.S. will spend a week in Malawi to assist local workers construct two additional classrooms at the Mchoka School in the Mangochi district of Malawi.

The 12 teachers at the school provide quality education to 595 children (Grades 1 through 6, 294 girls and 301 boys). Due to their current lack of space, two of the classes are required to meet under a tree for lessons. The additional classroom space is sorely needed and will be greatly appreciated by the students and staff.

Please consider joining us on this fun and rewarding trip. To sign up for this expedition, fill out an application.

If you can't travel to Africa, you may still support this project financially. Please send your donation to:

Any amount would be greatly appreciated!

As always every dollar donated to the Warm Hearts Foundation goes directly to the cause for which it is donated. This is because we do our work without any paid staff here in the US. All work is done by our board members on a volunteer basis, and what administrative expenses (and travel costs) which we do have are funded entirely by board member donations.

More About These Expeditions

We will have a chance to get to know the Maasai tribe as we visit and work with a small school in a Maasai village town. We will also go on safari while we are there. Our trip will conclude with a small project on the Eastern Coast of Kenya at a local orphanage as well as some much needed relaxing time on the white sandy beaches. This trip is guaranteed to change your life! We are excited to have you come with us!

Items for donation: As part of the expedition, everyone packs items for donation as part of our luggage. Each of you will carry on all your personal items and fill your two 50 lb. check-on bags with much needed supplies for our project. The supplies should be collected by each expedition participant and do not need to be new. Get your friends, family and community involved!

This year we are looking for soccer balls (with pumps), sports equipment, tools, children’s books (the kids speak English), text books, first-aid items, work gloves, school supplies, paint brushes and rollers.
